Victor Willis was born into a religious family in Texas. His father was a minister, which led to Victor's early exposure to church music; he began singing in the church choir during his childhood. As he grew older, he moved to New York to pursue a career in music and acting. In 1977, French music producer Jacques Morali was looking for an exceptional lead singer for a disco project; upon hearing Victor's voice and being impressed by it, he brought him on board.
