Miyavi, whose real name is Takamasa Ishihara, is a highly renowned Japanese rock musician, singer-songwriter, and actor. He is known worldwide for his unique "finger-slapping" guitar style, in which he plays the guitar like a bass using his hands instead of a plectrum. Fans also respectfully refer to him as the "Samurai Guitarist." He was born on September 14, 1981, in Osaka, Japan; his mother was Japanese, and his father was a naturalized Japanese citizen (originally of Korean descent).
