चित्तौड़गढ़ के नाम प्रसिद्ध बिहार का औरंगाबाद जिला का इतिहास बहुत ही प्राचीन है यह जिला मगध साम्राज्य से जुड़ा हुआ है औरंगाबाद जिले में कई सारे ऐतिहासिक स्थल है जिसे देखने के लिए दूर-दूर से लोग आते हैं औरंगाबाद में स्थित देव सूर्य मंदिर जहां पर छठ मनाने की परंपरा सदियों से चली आ रही है देव सूर्य मंदिर भगवान सूर्य को समर्पित है वहीं दूसरी ओर बात मदनपुर में स्थित उनके सूर्य मंदिर भी ऐतिहासिक स्थल के रूप में जाना जाता है, मध्यकाल में औरंगाबाद में अनेकों राजवंशों का शासन रहा जिनमें गुप्त, मौर्य और राजपूत शामिल है
